Microsoft Certification – Which Type Is Right For You?
There are quite a few different types of Microsoft certification, all of which can help you boost your career. This guide takes you through the five main types of Microsoft certification and what is involved with each one. One of the main types is the Desktop Support certification. For this you will need to demonstrate your competence in applications such as Word, Access, Excel, and more. The certification helps prove your competence in computer-related tasks and there are several variations of this particular certification.
The Technology certification is another very popular type of Microsoft certification. In order to gain recognition as a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, there are more than 30 areas that you can choose to study as part of the series. It is a good certification to have if you are an IT professional who works in maintaining and troubleshooting systems. Areas that you could choose to focus on include SharePoint services, the .NET framework, SQL Server and the Windows Server, depending on what’s relevant to you.
There are two main types of certification when it comes to the Microsoft Professional Certification. These are the Microsoft Certified Professional Developer and the Microsoft Certified IT Professional. If you choose to do the IT Professional certification, it will help prove your ability to work with a range of Microsoft technologies, and if you go for the Professional Developer certification, you will be able to prove your ability as a developer for the .NET framework and Visual Studio. You will also need to have the Technology certification.
The Master certification is the next Microsoft certification you could get. The aim of it is to prove your expertise in the information technology industry and you will receive training from professional Microsoft staff, usually in the form of a three week training course. You will be asked to look at areas such as the SQL Server, the Office Communications Server and Windows Server. You will be posed with relevant scenarios to test your understanding and abilities in both lab and lecture-based training sessions.
The highest level of Microsoft certification you can attain is the Microsoft Architect certification. In order to do this you will already need to be a Microsoft Master and you will also need to have many years of experience so that you can demonstrate your expertise in a whole range of different technical areas. There are two paths: the Technology Program and the Infrastructure Program. As part of proving your expertise in your chosen area, you will have to go through a review board interview before becoming an Architect.
